General-purpose semiconductor foundry
UMC, founded in 1980, was Taiwan's first semiconductor company.
The company was the first to offer foundry services, and the first chip company on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (1985).
UMC offers 28nm poly-SiON and gate-last high-k/metal gate technology, as well as mixed signal/RF CMOS. It has 10 wafer facilities, including two 300mm fabs in Taiwan and Singapore.
The company has more than 17,000 employees worldwide.
