This particular Supplier Engineering Role is primarily  targeted to execute as a part of the Quick Response Force(QRF).  This a  a team of SE’s  specifically equipped with skills/process resolve extremely “High Value” for containment, RC, CA and engineered  proliferation of learnings.  The engagement of high level supplier defects  impacting both  manufacturing and customer.


The  QRF SE  will take on the  responsibility for providing technical leadership to the assigned supplier issues and engaging the suppliers overall supplier quality management systems, ensuring process controls are established and adhered to throughout the supplier’s entire manufacturing process and supply chain.  The QRF SE engages in the overall life cycle of a tool inclusive of product development, released product and customer tools in the field.  The issues primarily that the QRF SE will engage will include critical mfg line and customer tool down situations.  Therefore,  engagement will require precision and speed during the problem solving and  corrective action process.


The SE team is supportive, cross-functional team with many different skillsets and experiences, lending itself to many learning opportunities from within the team. Additionally, Applied Materials has extensive internal and external training programs offering various certifications and development opportunities tailored specifically for the engineer’s skill sets and goals. The highly dynamic workload is project-focused, allowing the engineer to manage individual work schedules.


Key Responsibilities

Lead the problem solving process of high profile mfg and field issues that are supplier owned.
Drive systemic supplier performance improvement plans and projects for reducing quality defects and improve supplier’s capability.
Engage if necessary SPC compliance and improvement projects to reduce out of control conditions.
Conduct if necessary process and part audits at supplier sites – part to print verification, quality management system review, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Based upon learnings, participate in and drive technical sourcing decisions based on supplier capability and product attributes.
Lead  suppliers to comply with Applied’s quality methodologies – 8D, responding to non-conformances, change management controls, failure analysis.
Proliferate key learnings and BKMs into the supply base.
Prepare and present executive summaries on supplier capabilities, customer and factory escalations.
