Bruker X-Ray Imaging division:
Division’s vision is to provide an inline inspection and metrology system that will allow manufacturers of advanced interconnects to quickly bring the products to market at high yields and high reliability.

Division’s main advantages are higher sensitivity to defects, higher throughput, faster inspection speed, enormous field of view, uniform imaging capabilities, and lower noise flow.  We are developing algorithms that will automatically detect defects such as non-wets, voids in vias, and misalignment problems in order to catch process variations that negatively impact yields.

Job Description and Responsibilities:
The Field Applications Engineer would work with customers to inspect semiconductor parts in a high volume production environment.  He would be responsible for installing and qualifying new tools in the customer’s factory, for creating / managing / modifying recipes on the tool, and for troubleshooting issues with data quality.

As the main contact for the customer and Bruker X-Ray Imaging Division on technical issues, the Engineer must be able to communicate clearly in Mandarin and English.  More than just a translator, he must understand what the customer is asking for and why, and if necessary, managing the customer on the spot.

The Engineer is further responsible for finding potentially new applications of company’s x-ray technology, communicating the application and requirements to the local team, executing experiments to demonstrate feasibility, and analyzing the experimental data.

Requirements (Minimum and Preferred):
At a minimum, the Field Applications Engineer would meet all the following requirements:

·         B.S. in Applied Science or Engineering.  For example, Applied Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical engineering, or Electrical engineering.

·         > 4 years of work experience, > 2 years with a MS degree, a fresh graduate with a Ph.D.

·         Experience working with complex capital equipment in a production factory

·         TOEFL score: minimum 80 out of 120 (iBT)

·         Ability to travel for >30% of time

The ideal Field Applications Engineer would meet one or more of the following requirements:

·         Ph.D. in Applied Science or engineering

·         > 6 years of work experience with a M.S., > 3 years with a Ph.D.

·         TOEFL score: preferred 100+

·         Experience with metrology equipment in the semiconductor industry

·         Experience in semiconductor packaging / BEOL

·         Experience or background in x-ray technology

·         Experience in Statistics, Data analysis, curve fitting, Image processing, Machine learning, etc.

·         Basic programming or scripting skills; e.g., Python, Matlab, VBA
