Job Summary:

The primary focus of this position is to drive product quality, yield, cost, performance, and customer satisfaction throughout the entire LED Chips manufacturing line (epitaxial growth, wafer fabrication, and package/test) and LED component manufacturing line.  Product engineering is closely aligned with all levels of LED engineering, production control and marketing to make products that meet or exceed both cost and performance goals.  A successful candidate will take customer feedback, inline testing results, factory constraints and demand to drive revenue growth in all sectors of the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor product performance in terms of brightness, wavelength, and forward voltage to ensure that the customer’s needs are met.
  • Monitor product yields at various steps in the line to ensure that the cost and delivery schedule is met.
  • Develop process and product improvement projects to push the performance/cost envelope.
  • Aid the sustaining engineering team in all process and tool change qualification initiatives.
  • Work closely with the production control team to align production with demand and factory capabilities.
  • Work with various teams to address and resolve all customer quality issues.
  • Analyze data using sound statistical methodology to drive improvements and recommendations to operations and process engineering
  • Interface with marketing, process, R&D and reliability engineering to drive quality initiatives and maintain best in class outgoing quality.
  • Understanding and dispositioning of all NCM events with primary focus being on ensuring product quality.
  • Establish yield and performance triggers for products at various manufacturing steps and creating reaction plans for each trigger.
  • Owner of wafer level dispositioning for all projects and events associated with a given product line.
  • Develop and execute qualification plans to enable manufacturing at all sites.

Requirements:

  • BS in an Engineering field
  • Must possess a solid understanding of semiconductor wafer fabrication techniques and procedures.
  • 2 years recent experience as a Product/Process/Quality Engineer in a semiconductor environment
  • Strong track record of effective problem-solving, good engineering judgment and decision-making skills
  • Strong analytical background with understanding of core statistical techniques
  • Ability to interface with people of different backgrounds and at every level of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong drive to produce results in a timely fashion and have strong sense of competitive urgency.
  • Be willing and able to travel internationally (2-3 times / year).
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong self-motivation and project management experience.
  • This position requires the lawful ability to access technical data, information, and areas controlled by United States export control laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 years work experience as a Product Engineer or Process Engineer in a semiconductor environment.
  • Experience with SQL, JMP, MS Access, etc.
  • Experience at identifying patterns and defect clusters in manufacturing data.
  • Experience at failure analysis and understanding of typical failure analysis techniques (SEM, EDS, FIB, Auger, etc.)
