The Product Manager represents the product’s software and controls architecture and features across all organizational boundaries, acting as the conductor leading other groups and organizations in order to: define objectives and success criteria, align program priorities, drive decision making, allocate resources required to meet product development needs and market objectives, and support released products. The ideal candidate will have the confidence and background to lead a team of highly technical and competent individuals, a sound decision-making ability, an inquisitive nature, demonstrated capability to provide clarity and guidance in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work effectively across multiple organizations and levels of management.

 

Responsibilities

System Software, including new product features, continuous improvement programs, non-standard requests and implementation of customer escalation solutions
System Controls Architecture, including maintenance of existing product, definition of future architecture, timing and implementation planning
Intelligent Systems, including the timing and implementation planning of features to enable machine learning, predicative tool maintenance and automated self-aware hardware design thru the use of sensors and computational process integration
Consolidator of Product Roadmap / Strategy / Vision

Understand market / customer needs and Lam business objectives from across organization leadership (technology, engineering, product support, marketing, etc.) to align SW and Controls product roadmap and strategy.
Program Vision statement author for SW and Controls features, accountable for documenting business objectives and product requirements that form the basis for development / improvement programs, maintaining the living document under revision control throughout Product Development & Release process. Drive vision objectives into programs, supporting the program/project manager in achieving project goals
Define SW and Controls implementation strategy for product enhancements, new options, and fixes. Ensure products and features meet performance targets, is supportable in the field with proper documentation and training and has an aligned roadmap.
Communicate via Plan of Records (POR) with development team, operations, and customer accounts to align implementation of product changes.
Define the product offered for sale, as outlined within the Product Option Architecture (POA) system and associated change management processes; communicate with internal organizations the product offering for sale and associated list pricing.
Product Life Cycle Management

Manage the SW and Controls Engineering Priority List (EPL) of programs/projects to focus resources in line with organizational objectives.
Review and disposition the business case of requests for product enhancement / change, change notices, and customer requests for functionality not currently available; provide supporting rationale and alternatives to justify decisions and determine pricing.
Communicate across Lam and with customer known product issues, the impact to ongoing operations/production and Lam’s plan to resolve. Lead CFTs during product issue resolution periods, coordinating Lam operations and development groups, to mitigate the customer production impacts.
