Microsoft’s hardware teams incubate advanced technologies and build deep partnerships with internal research, product planning, and marketing teams. Microsoft ships tens of millions of hardware products every year, including the Xbox, Surface devices, HoloLens, accessories, and much more. Our opportunities represent a variety of disciplines including, but not limited to, design, verification, and performance modeling, and DevOps supporting the development of custom silicon. Responsibilities

As a Clock, reset, and boot-flow architect you will:

  • Work as part of a small team of architects with distinct areas of expertise on defining the overall direction of complex SoCs
  • Define architectural specs and technical documentation consumed  by internal design, verification and firmware team members
  • Have primary responsibility for defining clock and reset architecture
  • Work closely with power management engineers on the implementation of advanced power states of multi-power-domain SoCs
  • Interact with customers to understand requirements and translate into an architectural vison
  • Work closely with firmware engineers on SoC boot and power up/down sequences
  • Ensure flows meet all security requirements in collaboration with security architects

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Growth Mindset (It starts with a belief that everyone can grow and develop)
  • 7+ years of experience working in custom SoC development
  • 3+ years of experience working on SoC architectural definition
  • Experience defining SoC clock and reset architecture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to contribute to diverse and inclusive teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS or higher – CE, CS, EE
  • Customer Focus (anticipates needs and proactively meets expectations)

  • Judgement (scope problem, builds & applies knowledge)

  • 10+ years of experience working in custom SoC development
  • 5+ years of experience working on SoC architectural definition
  • Broad understanding of computer architecture
  • Experience developing complex SOC boot flows
  • Extensive knowledge of power management
  • Demonstrated success in coordinating and leading cross-discipline efforts
  • Experience with a secure-boot flow and principles of a secure root of trust
  • Knowledge of yield recovery and complexities surrounding parts that are only partially good
  • Experience with in-field repair, live firmware patching, and bug workarounds
  • Understanding of the complete custom-design flow from concept through physical implementation
