Sr. Materials Planner

The Materials Senior Planner analyzes materials usage trends and anticipates future requirements. Issues purchasing or recycling orders to replenish stock while balancing potential demand against financial constraints on inventory size.  Contributes to customer satisfaction by making rational parts purchases that ensures a high degree of parts availability for servicing equipment. Possesses and maintains working knowledge of ERP and parts planning software systems. Routinely deals with customers and solves complex parts issues.  Manages and controls NC parts consignment program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage inventory content and quantities
  • Analyze past usage in order to determine optimum levels of goods in stock
  • Anticipate future usage requirements to maintain minimum inventory that fulfills user requirements
  • Evaluate effectiveness of materials and logistics management operations systems and processes.
  • Make improvement recommendations.
  • Manage approved projects and drive through to completion.
  • Continuously evaluate Materials Control systems such as Focal Point and Oracle.
  • Determine and propose new processes to improve efficiency.
  • Conduct parts analysis and provide customer metrics as required.
  • Plan, schedule and conduct customer meetings as required.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Nikon Corporate on reliability reimbursement program.
  • Maintain and update NPI parts price lists.
  • Participate in ad-hoc financial analysis and projects
  • Prepare complex analysis to assist management planning and decision making
  • Source parts from domestic vendors and manages repair of same parts
  • Plan, review and update complex Bill of Materials
  • Collaborate with technical team to maximize inventory efficiencies
  • Monitor and control NC consignment stock ensuring stock count is accurate and parts are maintained at latest revision; report status to Nikon Corp as required
  • Maintain all parts at most up-to-date revision
  • Processes customer emergency part orders; coordinating needs with Nikon Corp or domestic vendors as required.
  • Monitor and manage emergency orders nights, weekends and holidays
  • Interface with Nikon Corp departments (SMD, WWPC, QC) providing information as requested and resolving part issues
  • Ascertain availability of parts in other subsidiaries, and purchase them for emergency provisioning
  • Respond to special customer requirements for parts
  • Coordinate with NPI Accounting to resolve NC invoice issues
  • Other duties as required.

Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite and Oracle ERP system
  • General knowledge of semiconductor machines and their components a plus
  • Fluency in written and spoken Japanese preferred
  • Able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Market and customer focus:  Awareness of how critically important reliable supply of parts is to customers
  • Open communication: Able to listen to, inform and influence customers and maintain strong relations.

Required Qualifications:

7 years’ experience with parts planning, purchasing.
7 years’ experience dealing with automated inventory control systems
5 years’ experience working independently in high-value purchasing
5 years’ experience using database and inventory software

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

BA or BS in Business Management or a related field
APICS Certification preferred
