Rambus Labs, a division focused on developing breakthrough solutions to solve future technology challenges, seeks an experienced Memory Architect. In this collaborative, company-wide influential position you will be responsible for researching and architecting DRAM based future memory subsystems and helping to define the roadmap for corporate investment in this area. The Memory Architect will join a team of thought leaders in the memory market –  investigating, developing and patenting solutions across the memory and storage hierarchy.  The Memory Architecture Research group has the responsibility for projecting market and technology trends 5+ years in the future, identifying key roadblocks and disruptive opportunities ahead of the industry, and architecting solutions that can lead to significant future revenue streams.  We focus on solving technical challenges in the enterprise/data center markets. As such, expect your work to be intellectually challenging, with a strong emphasis on research quality that leads to substantial innovations in memory architecture.

Job responsibilities in order of priority:

  • Develop and model memory architectures and innovative solutions to address problems facing the Data Center and AI markets; file patents where appropriate.
  • Propose new memory products or features and work with product group to prototype
  • Publish/present technical papers at relevant conferences and engage with potential customers to understand market needs and industry trends


  • BSEE/MS or similar technical degree with 10+ years of industry experience or PhD with 5+ years of experience. Advanced degrees are preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in DRAM based memory system architecture with a track record of developing innovative solutions is a must
  • A track record of strong memory patents is preferred
  • Knowledge of server architecture
  • Knowledge of memory standards (DDRx, LPDDRx, LRDIMM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of emerging memories (RRAM, MRAM, PCM) is a plus
  • Knowledge of serial link protocols (PCIe, SATA etc.) is a plus
  • Knowledge of server software architectures (MMU, VM, Operating Systems, Firmware, etc.) in the memory system domain is highly desirable
  • Experience with performance modeling and analysis of memory subsystems is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of storage system architectures, especially SSD is a plus
  • Familiarity with current data center system configurations, applications, and performance limitations is highly desirable.
