We are looking for someone with high-energy, boundless enthusiasm for Cloud-Native operations, and the necessary skills to form a new SRE team within Siemens DISW.  We have many emerging hybrid and cloud-native SaaS solutions being released and we are looking for someone to help us build a new group of highly skilled SREs to work with our development and operational support teams.

We are looking for someone with fresh ideas, has demonstrated an ability to lead, has experience setting SLO/SLI, can establish foundational observability services and can improve on-call incident response processes.  As the Manager of a group of Site Reliability Engineers (SRE), you’ll help build a meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions to operations problems. Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and reducing work through automation. You’ll lead a new team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking big and taking risks. Our SRE Manager will be responsible for system reliability, scalability and reducing time to market by striving to reduce technical debt of the services your SRE team supports. We seek a growth-minded manager who is passionate about system reliability and able to influence and drive the strategic SRE mission across the organization.

Key Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Engage, influence, and evangelize SRE practices with development, operational and product groups to align technology service/solution delivery.
  • Drive a quality mindset within the organization with well-defined processes, metrics (error budgets), and goals for process quality. This includes leading effective blameless postmortems and defining remediation steps and promoting a fault-tolerant development mindset.
  • Manage availability, latency, scalability and efficiency of Siemens DISW cloud-native applications.
  • Drive capacity planning, performance analysis, instrumentation and other non-functional systems requirements.
  • Implement metrics driven processes to ensure service quality targets are met.

Key skills:

  • Expert knowledge in all aspects of designing, developing, managing large cloud-native, highly distributed software systems.
  • Project and process management
  • Prior experience as a SRE.
  • Demonstrated experience working in large, complex systems environments.
  • A passion for performance excellence, robustness and engineering mindset

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Accomplished leader with 5+ years managing regional and global areas.
  • The successful candidate will possess an outstanding record of professional experience and will thrive in dynamic and fast paced environment with multi-faceted challenges.
  • Candidate must possess significant technology management and hands-on cloud-native development experience and must have strong planning, organizational, communication skills, and be both willing and able to evangelize the core principles of the SRE role to the development organization.
  • Have excellent time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, and organizational skills.
