Synopsys’ Virtual Prototyping solutions speed the creation and distribution of software models of embedded systems for early software development and verification. These C++ based software models, or virtual prototypes, shorten the design cycle through early software development, improve product quality with early hardware/software integration and promote design collaboration via easy electronic distribution.

Based in Livingston, near Edinburgh, Scotland, you will work in a strong team environment helping with the development and verification of high performance pre-silicon virtual platforms and processor models for use by software developers worldwide. This will involve the configuration and bring up of complex software stacks and drivers on the simulated hardware, identifying issues, investigating their root cause, and working closely with the development teams to identify and implement solutions.


Strong embedded software experience including Linux OS build, configuration and debug.
Hardware driver development experience (c programming) and/or driver bring up experience.
Good hardware knowledge including the ability to interpret device specifications required.
Exposure to open-source software environment.
Good programming skills. Experience in a C++ software development role a strong advantage.
Strong problem solving and communication skills are essential.
SystemC knowledge and previous transaction-level modeling experience are beneficial but not essential.
ARM assembler knowledge is a bonus.
Android build and configuration experience is an advantage.
FPGA or HDL experience would be advantageous (understanding of modeled hardware).
