Overview:

Reporting to the VP/GM for Veeco’s Advanced Deposition & Etch (AD&E) Business Unit, the Senior Director of Technology and Applications is responsible for innovation in product technology and applications development. This role provides strategic leadership for product and process development from concept through product release and is responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing the Technology organization to strengthen the overall competencies. In this global role, the leader interfaces with customers, marketing, sales, service, and key industry contacts. This opportunity demands an accomplished senior leader accustomed to collaboration with senior executives.

 

Responsibilities:

– Ownership of technology differentiation and innovation processes to ensure AD&E leadership
– Drive process technology through the product life cycle: in-house technology and process development, customer demos, beta site evaluations, field process qualification and extension to new applications
– Create and foster a culture of broad-based innovation to generate IP
– Evangelize roadmap and new products within the customer base through process/device data, journal and conference papers, customer demos, beta site evaluations, and collaborative programs
– Enhance external visibility through presentations/publications
– Maintain and expand lab infrastructure to support technology and process innovation

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in engineering, materials science, physics, or chemistry and at least 12 years of experience is required. At least 5 years of experience with a semiconductor equipment manufacturer of thin film systems is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated technical track record in thin film process disciplines spanning materials, deposition and etch systems, device fabrication, process, and device technology
In-depth knowledge of technologies with proven strategic thinking as exemplified by a track record of successful commercialization of innovation
Demonstrated customer engagement skills as a technology champion
Results oriented, analytical, and data-driven problem solving and management approach
Accomplished patent and publication record
Strong leadership skills characterized by the ability to inspire and communicate effectively
Energy level and drive that motivates those around him/her to meet business goals
Travel up to 30% domestic and internationally
