Cree is looking to add a Senior Packaging Engineer to our Wolfspeed division in Durham, NC. This job opportunity is for an experienced engineer with a thorough and detailed understanding of, and experience with a wide range of electronic packaging processes and materials in a manufacturing environment. The candidate should have a strong understanding in packaging materials and processes and be experienced in developing new technologies from R&D to HVM.

What can you do for our company?

Work closely with subcontractors and materials vendors and internal teams to characterize package materials
Work with OSATs/CMs to develop new package technologies as well as integrate new materials into existing packages
Stay abreast on latest materials such as epoxy mold compounds, sintering pastes, solders etc.
Recommend design modifications to improve the manufacturability and/or reliability of Power packages
Drive DOE’s at Cree and at Contract Manufacturer’s to help with materials selection, process optimization and design improvements
Understand device-package interactions and develop solutions to improve quality and reliability of discrete packages
Provide technical and engineering support to the manufacturing team
Interact with product design engineers to ensure that processes and designs are compatible and optimized for future products
