Job Description
Wolfspeed is one of the world’s leading suppliers of gallium nitride (GaN) wafers and devices for RF cellular communications, radar, and electronic warfare. Our business is growing rapidly and needs a RF Power Amplifier Design Engineer for our Product Development team in Morgan Hill, CA. The primary focus of this role is the design, test, and evaluation of cutting edge products using GaN HEMT and Si-LDMOS technologies.

What can you do for our company? (Job Responsibilities, Day to Day responsibilities)

-Design packaged devices using LDMOS and GaN technologies for Cellular Infrastructure class-AB and Doherty Amplifiers
-Design of product evaluation and reference designs to highlight product performance
-Use circuit modeling techniques including harmonic balance and planar electromagnetic simulation to ensure first pass design success
-Perform device testing and evaluation including s-parameters and large signal load pull characterization
-Generate test fixture, device, and assembly drawings and other process documentation
-Participate in planning and technical risk mitigation
-Work with Manufacturing and Operations to insure design for manufacturing and high yields

What you need for success: 

-BS, MS or PhD with RF and PA experience
-New PhD graduates with strong background in the area of RF/microwave PA modeling/design will be considered
-Good understanding of RF power amplifier load line and operation of class theories
-Proficient in RF matching networks theory and design
-Proficient with ADS/AWR non-linear simulation tools and 2.5 and 3D EM simulation software
-Experience with standard RF lab equipment (signal generators, power meters, spectrum analyzers, etc..)
-Programming experience in Matlab, Python, and/or C
-Ability to work within schedule restraints
-Excellent communication and team skills

Highly preferred skills and certifications: 

-Strong background in the area of RF/microwave PA design/modeling
-Understanding and experience with load-pull system
-Familiar with GaN technology
