Internet of Everything

A broader term for things and people connected by the Internet.

There have many many terms developed to describe the Internet of Things, and as more things and people are added one of the new terms being used is the Internet of Everything, or IoE. The assumption is that the IoE ultimately will include everything connected to the Internet, either by wire or wirelessly, continuously or intermittently. That connection can occur automatically, manually, or be programmed either by a person or another thing.
While much of this is still theory, things already are talking to other things and sending alerts to people. How far this progresses will likely be determined by the ability of things to connect seamlessly–now and over time–and by the ability of these connections to happen securely enough for people to be comfortable with more autonomous actions by things.
