BOPS, Inc.

Developer of high performance DSP cores

BOPS was founded in 1997 by a group of entrepreneurs including Steve Walsh and Jerry Pechanek (both formerly of IBM’s MFAST DSP group). Originally calling themselves Hot Chips and Salsa, the name was changed to BOPS (for Billions of Operations Per Second) when venture funding was secured.
In late 2002, BOPS ceased operations. In 2003, Altera acquired the company’s assets.
