Keil developed, manufactured, and distributed embedded software development tools for 8051, 251, ARM, and XC16x/C16x/ST10 microcontroller families. They provided ANSI C compilers, Macro Assemblers, real-time executives, debuggers and simulators, integrated environments, and evaluation boards.
Keil operated jointly through two privately-owned companies, Keil Elektronik GmbH in Munich, Germany, and Keil Software, Inc. in Plano, Texas.
The Keil name is still used by ARM for its development tools for microcontroller devices.
