Simutech Corporation

Special purpose hardware for functional verification
popularity

Description

Rave consisted of a cabinet filled with up to 31 CoreBoards, each of which modeled one IP block using an FPGA or a bonded-out core. CoreBoards were linked through time-domain multiplexing over the RAVE backplane. It was the backplane that made their system unique in that the protocol emulated by the backplane used a broadcast mechanism rather than point to point interconnect.
