Originally part of HHB Systems in the United Kingdom. Vizef became an EDA distribution company when HHB Systems was acquired. As an independent company, 3Com Ireland asked Vizef to locate a simple graphical ASIC design aide, and unable to find such a product, Vizef developed one, originally called Gema – later called Expressive-II.
The company changed its name to Expressive Systems in 1999. It later went out of business.
