Founded in 1986 by Mark Krieger. Created the first commercial C compiler in 1978. The first version ran on the PDP-11 but also had version for Intel 8080/Zilog Z80, Motorola MC68000, and VAX-11. Whitesmiths was involved in the development of ANSI C. A Pascal frontend was added later.
They also developed Idris a real-time Unix like operating system.
