in 2012, Jim Ready became Chief Technology Advisor, Software & Embedded Systems, at Cadence Design Systems.
in 1999 Ready founded MontaVista Software where he served as CEO and later CTO. In 2009, MontaVista was acquired by Cavium, and Ready continued to serve as CTO.
In 1980, Ready was co-founder of Ready Systems and developed the world’s first commercially viable real-time operating system (RTOS) product: the VRTX real-time kernel. Ready Systems was acquired by Microtec Research in 1993, went public in 1994, and was acquired by Mentor Graphics in 1995. During this period, Ready served as chief technical officer (CTO) at Microtec/Mentor.
Ready received his BA from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his MA from the University of California, Berkeley.
