In 1996, Tsai was a cofounder of Axis Systems, a developer of special purpose hardware to accelerate simulation. Axis was acquired by Verisity in 2004.
Before that he was co-founder and CEO of Arcsys from 1991 through 1994. Prior to founding Arcsys in 1991, Tsai held management positions at Cadence Design Systems, Silicon Compilers, and IBM Yorktown Research Center. Tsai is chairman of Salutron, a medical instrument company, and general partner of Acorn Venture Partners.
After leaving Verisity, Tsai has held management positions in a number of companies out of the area of EDA including Chairman and CEO of UpperVision, Inc. and Chairman of Salutron, Inc.
He was a board member for the EDA Consortium
Tsai received a Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Electrical Engineering in 1978.
