In 2000 Paddock founded Sonic Focus and was their CEO. Sonic Focus was acquired By ARC, which was a acquired by Virage which was acquired by Synopsys. At Synopsys he was director or R&D.

Paddock was a principal acoustic systems architect for Grateful Dead, Windham Hill, Cher, Different Fur Recording, Mickey Hart, One Pass Video, Bob Weir, The Tubes, Jerry Garcia, George Winston, Huey Lewis and the News, Carlos Santana, David Byrne and Brian Eno, among others.
