Founded in 1981 by a group of ex-Intel employees. They identified a need for computer aided design (CAD) tools to be used for designing printed circuit boards (PCBs) and integrated circuits (ICs). Daisy pioneered the field of ‘˜computer aided engineering’ (CAE) and become a leading company in that space.
Daisy Logician – custom HW, custom OS. Daisy attempted to stop being so proprietary but essentially failed. These attempts drained the company of a lot of resources.
Daisy applications ran on the Daisy-DNIX operating system, a Unix-like operating system running on Intel 80286 and later processors.
In 1983 DABL (Daisy Behavioral Language) was developed by Fred Chow. It was a hardware modelling language similar to VHDL.
