ECAD’s primary product was Dracula. It was a design-rule checker, an electrical rule checker, and a layout-versus-schematic consistency checker. This was followed by SYMBAD, an IC layout product suite.
The design-rule checker was initially developed inside of Systems Engineering Laboratories (SEL), which was acquired by Gould in 1982. Part of the CAD group was spun out to become ECAD.
Acquired Technology: MASKAP from PDS (Phoenix Data Systems)
They completed their IPO in 1987 with the sale of 1.5 million shares of common stock, raising $11.3 million in capital.
Merged with SDA in 1988 to become Cadence
