Founded in 1861 as the Territorial University of Washington, University of Washington, or UDub, is one of the oldest universities on the West Coast although it had a rocky start and was forced to close three times due to lack of students or lack of funding.
The College of Engineering spawned 44 startups between 2014-2019 and has access to a startup accelerator program.
