Description

Bernard Vonderschmitt died in 2004.
He was a founder of Xilinx in 1984 and served as CEO until 1996 and continued as chairman until his retirement in 2003.

In 1979 he joined Zilog where was vice president and general manager of the microprocessor division. Vonderschmitt, however, spent most of his career with RCA.

Vonderschmitt earned a BSEE and honorary doctorate degree of Science and Technology from Rose Polytechnic Institute, an MSEE from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA and honorary doctorate of law from Rider University.
