He co-founded Silvar-Lisco, one of the first commercial EDA companies in 1979 and served as its Vice President of Engineering.
Arnout received his PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Leuven in Belgium in 1980. He was a post-doctoral fellow at Stanford from 1980 to 1982
