Eli Yablonovitch has been the Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles since 1992.
Yablonovitch was a founder of Luminescent Technologies, in 2002
He was a founded Luxtera, Inc. in 2001.
He was also a founder of Alta Devices, Inc.
Yablonovitch worked for two years at Bell Telephone Laboratories, and served as a Professor of Applied Physics at Harvard. In 1979, he joined Exxon to do research on photovoltaic solar energy. Then in 1984, he joined Bell Communications Research, where Yablonovitch was a Distinguished Member of Staff, and also served as Director of Solid-State Physics Research.
Yablonovitch holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Harvard University.
