The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits is an applied research facility based in Germany. As part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Fraunhofer IIS focuses on the development of microelectronic systems, audio/video processing codecs, communications, monitoring, and more.
The Engineering of Adaptive Systems Division further focuses on the design of reliable microchips and complex electronic systems in leading-edge semiconductor technologies, design methodologies, new concepts for sensor systems, the analysis of large amounts of data and the control of automation processes.
The institute provides R&D services, licensing of technologies and systems, technology integration and the development of components, project support and advice, and conducts market studies for clients.
Fraunhofer IIS was established in 1985; the EAS division originated as part of the Central Institute of Cybernetics and Information Processes. In 1992, the research institute became a branch lab and in 2006 a division of IIS.
