Description

The purpose of the IEEE is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.
The IEEE was formed in 1963 with the merger of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Radio Engineers and a formal standards body was formed to conduct standards development. In 1998, the standards body was reorganized and became the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA). The IEEE-SA is responsible for a very wide array of standards that span communications, electrical construction, software and EDA.
