How inductive sensing (combined with capacitive sensing in some cases) enables a new level of smart surfaces with touch HMI.
The need for advanced and improved human machine interfaces (HMIs) is increasing due to increasing digitalization trends including Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT), the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), and more. At the same time, product designers use various HMI touch technologies to improve and differentiate their designs from competitors. Liquid tolerance and sleek metallic product designs are among the major challenges that these designers face with today’s mechanical and capacitive sensor button solutions. Inductive sensing offers unique opportunities to create new, reliable, and robust touch HMI solutions on metal surfaces and/or in wet environments. In addition, inductive sensors can help manufacturers to simplify their designs, create aesthetically attractive interfaces for their products and optimize total solution cost.
