Major Growth For Knowledge Center

An update on the Knowledge Center, plus a few pop quizzes.

popularity

First, we would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of the Knowledge Center (KC) this year. Its traffic has increased by about 70% over last year and is now giving some of the editorial channels of Semiconductor Engineering a run for their money.

The Knowledge Center has two major components. The first are the companies, standards groups and people that drive our industry. It appears as if people love diving into the genealogy of our industry: you would expect that existing companies might be the ones at the top of the list, but in fact Viewlogic was the most visited page. Pop quiz, how many of the founders can you name, what year was it founded and who purchased them? But with Viewlogic, getting bought was not the end of the story. Do you know what happened next?

Following Viewlogic, we find Mentor, Cadence and Synopsys not too far behind. Turning our attention to people, the most hits goes to who founded two EDA companies. Can you name them? Second place goes to , co-founder of Apache.

Even more popular than those pages are the expanding pages that talk about technologies, and this is the area in which most of our work is now being concentrated. The most popular pages talk about fabrication technologies and devices, with , finFET, gate-all-around FET substrate biasing, and 2.5D talking the top spots. Many of these pages have a growing number of videos associated with them, enabling you to learn directly from the experts in these fields.

As you look around the KC, perhaps you find a subject that is not covered or a page that is missing some important information. We would love for you to help us make this a resource that can help everyone understand the industry a little better and bring down the barriers to the adoption of new technologies. Every page contains a suggestion box or send me an email and we will work to get your knowledge incorporated.
