Engineering students demonstrate optical design excellence; Mentor joins European power electronics consortium; partnerships.
Partnerships
With an aim to drive adoption of software testing in Japan, Coverity, a Synopsys company said it has tapped OGIS-RI, a Japan-based distributor of IT solutions to partner with Coverity’s software testing platform and OGIS-RI’s open source license and vulnerability management tool.
Maxscend Technologies has joined CEVA’s CEVAnet partner program and will offer complete solutions for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy, consisting of Maxscend RF IPs and CEVA’s connectivity platforms that target the growing markets of mobile devices, wearables and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Validation
Rambus and Northwest Logic have validated interoperability of the Rambus R+ DDR4/3 PHY with the Northwest Logic DDR4/3 SDRAM Controller Core, which is meant to be a differentiated memory subsystem.
Design win
To help protect content and services against piracy, MStar Semiconductor has licensed the CryptoFirewall security core from Cryptography Research, the security division of Rambus for integration into its connected TV solution chips.
Consortia
Mentor Graphics joined the German-based European Centre for Power Electronics, a European consortium focused on the research, education, technology transfer, and promotion of power electronics globally — as the first EDA company to participate. In its work with the ECPE, Mentor will focus on its expertise in thermal simulation and test of electronic systems and power cycling technology.
Recognition
Synopsys announced that four students, Xinda Hu of the University of Arizona, and Anthony Vella, Aaron Bauer, and Nicolas Brown, all of the University of Rochester, are the winners of the 2014 Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Optical Design Competition, which was established in 2000 by Optical Research Associates, now Synopsys’ Optical Solutions Group. The awards are granted to students who have submitted papers that demonstrate optical design excellence.
