Mentor Graphics bought Flexras Technologies for an undisclosed sum. Flexras, based in France, makes FPGA-based prototyping tools. The company was founded in 2009.

Deals
Sonics won a deal with Toshiba, which is using Sonics’ on-chip network technologies and services for application processors targeted at smart appliances, industrial CPUs and machine-to-machine modules.

Benchmarks
Rockchip said it achieved first-pass silicon success for its application processor SoC with Synopsys controller and PHY IP for USB, HDMI and MIPI.

Cadence claims its latest round of Tensilica processors reduce processor logic power consumption by up to 25% with up to 75% better local memory area and power efficiency.
