FlexRay ISO17458

An automotive communications protocol
popularity

Description

FlexRay is an automotive communications protocol developed to be faster and more reliable than CAN. It was developed by a consortium of automakers and semiconductor companies that disbanded in 2009 after having handed the standard off to the ISO where it is now ISO 17458.

FlexRay can support rates up to 10 Mbits/s and supports both star and party line topologies. It has two independent data channels, providing fault-tolerance and more predictable real-time characteristics.
