Synchronous DRAM

Type of DRAM with faster transfer
popularity

Description

Synchronous DRAM, or SDRAM, can run at faster speeds than conventional DRAM. It is synchronized to the clock of the processor and is capable of performing multiple accesses simultaneously by utilizing multiple memory banks. By transferring data alternately each memory bank, the effective transfer rate can be increased.
