Description

The private cloud is a collection of data centers and IT infrastructure for data storage and computing resources that a company owns or subscribes to for use only by that company. The company usually owns the equipment and maintains it with an IT staff on site, although sometimes a third-party service provider hosts the data center. The data center can be on-site as part of the enterprise’s infrastructure or collected in an off-site data center for the company’s exclusive use. Access to the private cloud is through a private network. Security, flexibility and scalability are some of the advantages for companies. Startups and smaller companies, however, are known to use public clouds to keep IT and capital equipment costs down.
