eRM

Reuse methodology based on the e language
popularity

Description

The e language was created by Verisity (now part of Cadence) and was one of the first Hardware Verification Languages (HVL). An e Verification Component or eVC, is a ready-to-use, configurable verification block typically focusing on a specific protocol or architecture (such as PCI Express, Ethernet, AHB, or USB). Each eVC consists of a complete set of elements for stimulating, checking, and collecting coverage information for a specific protocol or architecture.

The e Reuse Methodology (eRM) was the first reuse methodology to emerge in 2001 and released in 2002. The methodology was composed of guidelines for such topics as file naming conventions, functional partitioning of the testbench, code packaging guidelines and sequence and message class libraries.
